Meet Megan

Meagan Moore is a kind, vibrant 8 year old. When she was 2 months old she had emergency brain surgery to remove an Arterio-Venous Malformation-a giant mass of blood clots from her brain.. Complications from that surgery have now caused Meagan to have between 75-150 seizures a day among many other side effects from the medications she is on. The complications from that are outstanding.The Neurosurgeons would like to remove the lobe in her brain that they "think" is causing the problem. The test that needs to be performed is called a MEG Scan, this would allow us to determine where her speech, motor skills and memory are located. The surgery has a 50% chance of working. This test is a $20,000 test. My insurance is denying it and the surgeons don't want to operate, not knowing where these important factors are located and causing possible loss of one of these vital life functions. I would either like to get the test done or take her back east to Johns Hopkins for a second opinion. Meagan has days where she has 150+ seizures and hallucinations, psycho somatic episodes. She sits in a wheelchair at school, strapped in, because she takes off at any given moment. She cant play baseball or other sports, she is losing her hair because of all the medications she is on. She does not have a quality of life. I would like to be able to offer her one some day soon!
